In the very heart of Copenhagen lies Rosenborg Castle (Danish: Rosenborg Slot), a royal retreat set in the magnificent King’s Garden (Kongens Have). Here you can visit the ornate throne room or view the Danish crown jewels.
The castle is over 400 years old, having originally been built as a summer house by King Christian IV and subsequently expanded. It follows the Dutch renaissance style, with a lavish interior and gardens echoing this theme.
As well as visiting the castle itself, you can also take a relaxing stroll through the flourishing and immaculately-maintained castle flower garden. Afterwards you have the King’s Garden to explore, which shows part of Copenhagen virtually unchanged in four centuries.

We strongly recommend buying tickets online in advance, as the castle gets very busy in summer. You can even choose your time slot when you buy.
Adult tickets are 110 DKK (US$18.50) and children go free. In winter it’s open from 10:00-15:00 and in summer until 18:00

It gets very, very busy in summer so arrive early or buy tickets online with a reserved time slot. This is one of Copenhagen’s most popular attractions.
It’s free to get in everywhere apart from the castle itself so you can view the castle’s exterior and wonderful garden without paying anything. Why not buy some food from nearby Torvehallerne and have a picnic by the castle?
