Copenhagen is an island city, surrounded by water with canals running through its heart. Taking a canal tour is one of the most relaxing and informative ways of seeing the city, as you take in Denmark’s most famous sights from the unique surroundings of the ancient waterways.
The Grand Tour departs from iconic Nyhavn or Gammel Strand and take around an hour, giving you uninterrupted views of everything from Amalienborg Palace and Copenhagen Opera House to Christiansborg Palace and the Little Mermaid. Otherwise a hop-on hop-off option is offered, allowing you to get on and off the tour at any stop within a 48-hour period. Commentary is provided in a range of languages.

Copenhagen Canal Tour Tips
Gammel Strand is less busy than Nyhavn so if you don’t want to have to queue to get on a boat, we recommend starting at Gammel Strand. It’s just in front of Christiansborg Palace.
Combine boat & bus hop on – hop off tickets to save yourself money, time and inconvenience by including your ticket for the hop on – hop off bus. You can then cover the whole city with just one ticket.
The Grand Tour is included with the Copenhagen Card so can save you money if this is your preferred option. It only includes departures from Gammel Strand.
